8) ONLINE OR VIRTUAL BOARDS AND WALLS
What are they?
Online whiteboards and walls have become more popular since working and learning remotely became necessary. On the Mona campus, facilitators have been attending workshops and have been using Padlet, Jamboard among others. Online boards and walls allow us to collaborate in real-time or asynchronously. Tips (best practice) for using online boards and walls for instruction:
| 1. | Explore different boards to see which one suits your purpose and with which you are most comfortable. |
| 2. | Provide resources on how to use the board, or do a demonstration before use. |
| 3. |
You have the opportunity to "go visual" on your board. Grab it with both hands and use images! Encourage learners to go visual too! |
| 4. | Remember that online boards are good for brainstorming ideas. Set time limits or timers to keep things moving - unless you are making the board available outside of the class. |
| 5. | Share the ideas that emerged from the session with your learners at the end of the activity. |
