Discussions can form the medium for interaction among students and between students and facilitator.

They give audience to the students' voice, facilitate self-expression and encourage multiple perspectives on an issue.

Build Communities of Learners

 

Attention needs to be paid to the developing a sense of community within the group of participants in order for the learning process to the successful.

The learning community is the vehicle through which learning occurs online. Members depend on each other to achieve the learning outcomes for the course. Without the support and participation of a learning community, there is no online course.
