On September 2009, the Engineering programme started at the University of the West Indies, Mona with just one Engineering degree (BSc in Electronics Engineering) being offered. Founder, Dr. Paul Aiken, started the programme in the Department of Physics under the supervision and guidance of the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine.
The overall objectives of this programme were (and still are) to produce graduates:
The programme grew and after two years expanded to offer two additional degrees; BSc in Civil Engineering and BSc in Computer Systems Engineering. The programme aims to meet the challenges of an evolving society by providing a high performance engineering education that fosters personal, professional and social responsibilities, technical excellence and creativity; and effective communication, teamwork and leadership.
