A "DOI " --- A WHAT?

In your list* at the end of your assignment, research paper or thesis you will have to give the link to any Internet sources that you have used. In the past the "URL" was sufficient.   Please note that there is a trend toward using a more stable link. This is the "DOI."

It is easy to find the URL, simply copy and paste.   It can be difficult to find the DOI.

See APA Style blog:  How to find a DOI  by Timothy McAdoo   and A DOI Primer by Chelsea Lee

Want more information? Visit the DOI websitehttp://www.doi.org/index.html:

URL -- uniform resource locator

DOI --  digital object identifier

* This list goes by several names, depending on the "style" you are using e.g.

  • References
  • Bibliography
