INTERLIBRARY LOAN

The Sidney Martin Inter library loan service (ILL) facilitates the loan of material from other libraries to faculty, staff and post graduate students at the UWI Cave Hill campus. Items are loaned through ILL to local, regional and international libraries. Depending on the availability and the location of the lending library, items may take between 4-6 weeks to arrive. Patrons are contacted on arrival of items and are requested to collect the material from the Circulation Desk.

INTERLIBRARY LOAN REGULATIONS

The following items can be borrowed on Inter library loan:

  • Books,
  • Book Chapters,
  • Journal Articles,
  • Newspapers Articles,
  • Conference papers.

The library does not lend these:

  • Audio-visual material,
  • Full issues of journals,
  • Special collection items,
  • Rare, fragile or expensive material.  

Other libraries also restrict loan of these items.

 

HOW TO REQUEST AN ITEM

Forms can also be submitted at the Library’s Circulation desk.

COST AND LENGTH OF LOAN

Costs

  • A fee of BDS$20.00 for all items sourced, except books.
  • Full payment must be made for articles etc, before the item is released.
  • Airmail and insurance costs may be required for books.

Loan Period

  • Determined by the lending library and may range from four- six weeks.
  • Loans can be extended or renewed however at the discretion of the lending library.
  • Restrictions on use of material loaned e.g. item cannot leave the host library, will also be indicated by the lending library.
