Humanities Division (STA): Resources and Services: Research Support

This LibGuide introduces the resources and services of the Humanities Division of The Alma Jordan Library (AJL), Campus Libraries, The University of the West Indies (UWI), St. Augustine Campus (STA).

Introduction

At The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus, there is The School For Graduate Studies and Research. This school, which is supported by the Office for Graduate Studies and Research (Office of the Campus Registrar), administers a range of graduate studies matters, but importantly to perform a support and developmental role in the expansion of both graduate education and research. Additionally, the school administers grant funding for staff and students and graduate scholarships.

There are various research entities throughout the campus. For The Faculty of Humanities and Education, there is the Family Development & Children's Research Centre.

In addition, The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus also has premier research resources such as:

  • Various databases available via the Alma Jordan Library's (AJL) website.
  • ArchiveSpace, which houses 169 special collections of historical materials such as The Eric Williams Memorial Collection dating as far back as the 1600s (e.g. maps, microfilms, newspapers and other recordings).
  • UWI Journals (through Open Journal Systems (OJS), The University of the West Indies publishes its scholarly open-access and subscription journals online, with content spanning 1924 to 2024).
  • UWIScholar (an online platform that showcases the research and expertise of faculty, staff and students at The University of the West Indies (UWI)).
