Citation Styles

There are several citation styles. All styles contain the same components however they may follow different guidelines on how the citation should be displayed.  At the undergraduate level, use the style recommended by your lecturer. At the post graduate level, follow the guidelines listed in the UWI Thesis Guide

Style Manuals

 

The Chicago Manual Of Style, 

The Chicago Manual 17th edition, Author date system is the style used by  researchers in  the Social Sciences and the Pure Sciences.

Researchers in the Arts and Humanities use the  Notes/Bibliography format as outlined in the Chicago Manual. 

 

THE MLA Handbook

Published by The Modern Language Association of America (MLA) this handbook provides guidelines for formatting theses and research papers. it is primarily used by researchers and students in the arts and humanities. 

 

APA Publication Manual

 

The APA Manual  is published by the American Psychological Association. This style manual is widely used by researchers in the sociial sciences and education
