External Users - General Policy

General Policy

All persons not employed or affiliated with The University of the West Indies and who wish to use the library are required to complete an application form or sign a register. The latter is required of those persons who have been granted permission to use the facilities on a single occasion. A fee for repeated use will be charged for those users listed below under conditions as spelled out in same paragraph.

Categories of External Users

To qualify for External User membership a person must belong to one of the following categories and will be registered at The University of the West Indies Main Library as an External User for periods as determined by the Campus Librarian:

  • UWI Alumni Association members.
  • Students, Faculty and academic members from other universities and regional institutions.
  • Staff of Government ministries or Foreign Embassies/Missions.
  • Information professionals, local, regional, international, both practicing and retired.
  • Members of a corporation.
  • Non-Governmental Organizations.

This category of user cannot acccess any loans.
