This Libguide is designed to strengthen liaisons and linkages between the Faculty of Medical Sciences and the Medical Sciences Library.

LOANS

LOAN ENTITLEMENTS - what you need to know 

  • Entitlement:   19 items including periodicals. Any variation of loan entitlements can be authorised by the Librarian on duty. 
  • Loans periods: the average loan period for books from the general collection is 28 days, while periodicals are normally loaned for 7 days. Semester and other special loans can be arranged on request.
  • Renewals: Loans for borrowed items which are not overdue may be renewed in person; via the phone (645-2640 ext. 5201) or email (mslref@sta.uwi.edu).
  • Fines:  Academic, Senior Administrative, and Professional Staff are no longer subject to fines.They will however still be automatically blocked for overdue items
  • Proxy borrowing: Members of Faculty can designate their research assistants to borrow on their behalf with prior written authorization but are reminded that they remain responsible for all such loans. Request the Proxy Loan Authorization Form to enable this service and submit this to the Information Desk at the Library. 

 

OTHER SERVICES FOR FACULTY

Computing Services

Computers with Internet access are available.

Library resources can also be accessed from any computer on the campus network.

Wireless access, via the campus network, is also available.

The Library's Multimedia and Information Technology Unit provides access to Microsoft Office, SPSS and EndNote.

 
SPSS software 

Registered students and members of faculty use the SPSS software in the M&IT Lab. Please note that the MSL cannot provide users with a copy of the software.
