What is a Microfilm?

Typically used for preservation and archival purposes, a Microfilm is a high resolution photographic film that is used to store miniaturized images of documents and printed materials. Microfilm accommodates the long - term storage of diverse document types, from centuries old manuscripts, to decades of newspaper issues, official records, and other historically significant materials.  The microfilm is a storehouse for a broad spectrum of history that otherwise without this medium would long degraded overtime. By converting documents into microfilm, libraries, archives, and information centres can ensure the longevity of these materials.
