INTRODUCTION

 

JACKIE OPEL (DALTON SINCLAIR BISHOP) 1937- 1970

This great musical icon has been called the ‘Father of Spouge” in Barbados.  Activities surrounding Opel’s birthday in recent times have bemoaned the limited national recognition and significance which has been rendered to the musical genius.  The Elizabeth Watson Audiovisual Unit has within its holdings a significant number of  Opel's works which are listed here.  This guide serves as a pathfinder for works by and about Jackie Opel which can be found in the libraries of the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, along with some open online resources, images and sound bites.
